The Israel Heritage Foundation mourns the loss of Cherna Moskowitz, a”h, a visionary leader whose indelible mark on Jerusalem will forever be remembered. Alongside her husband Irving, a”h, this extraordinary couple dedicated their lives to uniting Jerusalem under Jewish sovereignty. For decades, Cherna tirelessly worked to redeem, build, and uplift Jerusalem from the ashes of destruction, revitalizing Jewish life and transforming the city’s landscape for generations to come.
Her selfless efforts established vibrant Jewish neighborhoods, returning Jewish life to the Holy Basin, and nurtured countless children and families as if they were her own. Today, the families, children, and students of Jerusalem, alongside the ancient stones of Yerushalayim, mourn the loss of a true giant.
Thousands of Yeshiva students, children, and families across the Old City, Abu Tor, City of David, and beyond owe a debt of gratitude to Cherna’s unwavering dedication. The Israel Heritage Foundation has lost a shining star, a humble benefactor, and a builder of Jerusalem. Jerusalem has lost a precious pearl, and the Jewish people have lost an inspirational friend and supporter.
Dr. Joseph Frager, Executive Vice President of Israel Heritage Foundation and a close friend of Cherna and Irving, noted that Cherna’s contributions to Judea and Samaria were unparalleled, and her tireless efforts to support the Jewish people will never be forgotten.
Our hearts and warmest wishes go out to the Moskowitz family. May they find comfort in Hashem’s embrace, alongside generations of mourners of Zion and Yerushalayim, and may Jerusalem herself offer solace. Cherna’s remarkable legacy will forever inspire us, and her memory will be a blessing to all who knew her.
